And subsequent attempts to do the Snow White as vampire motif by Gaiman and Barker haven't surpassed it! As if to underscore her mastery of dark fantasy, she did a futuristic, non-supernatural variation on Snow White called "Snow Drop" for the dark fantasy compilation "Snow White, Blood Red" edited by Datlow and Windling (Morrow & Co., 1993). Worth reading if you haven't go it already!
